What “Five Minutes” Means
With a prepared image and normal provider load, you can often sign in, submit a 512 job, wait roughly one to three minutes, inspect the result, and start a GLB download in about five minutes. This is a practical target, not a service-level guarantee. Queue load, input complexity, and selected settings can make a job slower.
trellis-2.com is an independent web service built around TRELLIS.2 technology. It is not the official Microsoft project site and is not endorsed by Microsoft. The upstream project is available in the Microsoft TRELLIS.2 repository.
Step 1: Choose One Clear Image
The input has more influence on the first result than a long list of advanced settings. Start with:
- One object, centered and fully visible
- A plain or transparent background
- Even lighting and a distinct silhouette
- A square image at 512 × 512 pixels or larger
- An object without glass, heavy reflections, motion blur, or severe occlusion
The model cannot see the back or underside of the object. It estimates hidden geometry, so check every angle after generation.
Step 2: Sign In
Open the image-to-3D generator and sign in. An account is required because generation uses credits, creates a tracked provider task, and attaches the result to the correct user.
When signup credits are enabled, current new accounts receive the full 150 credits required for one 512 task. A separate on-demand bridge exists only for historical accounts created under the old 100-credit signup rule and only when they have no prior 3D task. Current 150-credit grants are never topped up again after use.
Step 3: Start at 512
Choose 512 for the first evaluation. It answers the most important question at the lowest cost: does TRELLIS.2 infer a useful shape and texture from this image?
The generator also exposes higher settings, but 1024 and 1536 require more credits. Higher resolution can add detail; it cannot reconstruct information that is missing from the photograph.
Before submitting, confirm:
- The mode is image-to-3D.
- The correct image preview is visible.
- The displayed resolution is 512.
- The shown credit cost matches the available balance.
Step 4: Follow the Live Task
After submission, the job moves through pending and processing states. The page polls the server rather than pretending the model is finished after a fixed timer. You can leave and return while a long-running provider task continues.
The account is limited to two recent active 3D jobs. This protects the credit balance and prevents repeated clicks from creating a pile of paid provider work. Credits are reserved before the provider call. If the tracked submission or task fails, the consumption record is claimed once and the reserved credits are returned with a refund audit attached to the task.
Step 5: Inspect and Download
When the provider reports success, rotate and zoom the result before downloading. Look for:
- Hidden-side geometry that does not match the intended object
- Thin pieces that have merged or disappeared
- Texture seams, baked shadows, or reflections
- Scale, orientation, and polygon density issues
The direct web-generator download is a GLB file. GLB carries mesh and material data in one portable asset. You can inspect it in the browser GLB viewer, import it into Blender with File → Import → glTF 2.0, or convert it with the 3D format converter.
The download action is recorded only as a task-level timestamp and count for product follow-up; it does not publish the asset or its private account details.
What the Result Is—and Is Not
The generated GLB is a draft. It may work immediately for a concept preview, but game, VFX, commerce, AR, and print uses commonly require retopology, UV checks, material cleanup, LODs, scale validation, or mesh repair.
Do not use a single-image generation as dimensional evidence for a functional replacement part. Measure and rebuild engineering-critical geometry in CAD.
After the Trial
If the 512 result is useful, compare the current one-time and subscription options. Pricing copy lists only implemented entitlements, and the generator shows the credit cost of the selected resolution before another job.
If the result is not useful, try one better-isolated image before buying more credits. If the same geometry problem repeats, send the input conditions and task time—not private payment data—to support so the failure can be reproduced.
